The text makes a historical-theological reading of Christian martyrdom phenomenon in Latin America during the twentieth century, particularly in El Salvador and Guatemala. Chronologically is the death of Salvadoran Jesuit Rutilio Grande (1977) until the death of Monsignor Gerardi (1998) in Guatemala.
The work begins with a preface by Bishop Elías Samuel Bolaños, bishop of Zacatecoluca and comprises three chapters:
